Our Background

Revolution Human Aid and Transparency Initiative (REHAAT-INITIATIVE), was founded as a community-based organization (CBO) in the city of Blantyre in the year 2010 serving the communities of Mbayani Township. In its early years, the organization focused mainly on reforestation by raising nurseries of trees and distributing them to communities, HIV/AIDS awareness and offering trainings in end user computing to community members. After seeing the need to expand, the organization registered as a full non-governmental organization (NGO) under Trust Incorporation Act in 2014. This upgrade expanded the mandate of organization from serving a specific community to having the mandate to serve the entire Malawi. Overtime, the headquarters of the organization moved from Blantyre in the southern region to Mzuzu City in the northern region of Malawi. For close to 5 years, the organization had put much focus on thematic areas of Education, ICT training program, Women/girl empowerment, Human Rights and Governance, and Environment and Climate Change.

Currently, the organization serves the catchment area of Mzimba District particularly Mzimba North and Mzuzu City. The organization’s programmes have so far been supported with grants from CIVICUS Global Alliance, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through World Connect, National AIDS Commission (NAC) among others.
